Daily Mail - What does the Daily Mail & General Trust and the BBC Licensing Fee?

hey everyone, I was wondering what Dacre and the Daily Mail and General Trust have to gain from an elimination of the BBC licensing fee. I know that the Daily Mail and the Evening Standard blow up stories, like the Brand and Ross situation, in order to hurt the BBC. Also, Dacre is very outspoken about how the BBC licensing fee needs to be eliminated. Why? How would this benefit him and the Daily Mail and General Trust?

THANKS!

I dont think anyone exaggerated the Brand and Ross repulsive behaviour.

Just because some people have become desensitised to ignorance and filth on the airwaves doesn’t make it right.

In fairness,I dont really care how they behave because I exercise the choice not to tune in to such talentless drivel based upon shock tactics. However, the elderly gentleman and his grandaughter had no such opportunity.

Furthermore, the Mail obviously has the interests of licence fee payers at heart.

Why should we pay through the nose for a service that we may choose not to watch?
Why should the BBC have unfair advantages over other stations?
Why should i pay my licence fee for what is essentially an unofficial New Labour mouthpiece?
I could go on and stress just how poor BBC programming is but it is not relevant here, what is relevent having to pay regardless of whether we watch or not.

He presumably thinks that more people would read his newspaper because the BBC wouldn’t be imposing its ‘left wing politically correct bias’ and sneering at the Daily Mail, and we’d all be dumbed-down racists. Generally he wants more free market competition in TV and radio and he thinks the BBC is too big and a stifling influence with an unfair advantage.
I don’t agree with him and I wouldn’t like to see a news channel inspired by the Daily Mail if that is one of his secret ambitions.
